Building peace, empowering people
“The training was based on research and lived experience, and felt extremely relevant. I feel like I could apply everything from the series in a variety of situations.” - Workshop Participant
Peace at Pride
Our Pride Peacebuilders Certification Series prepares organizations and individuals for promoting peace and de-escalating angry, aggressive, and agitated behavior at Pride festivals and LGBTQ events. This series, rooted in theory, research, and stories, covers peacebuilding principles and practical skills. Our adaptable, well-rounded approach to building peace is based on the values and integrity of the peacebuilder.
Peace and Politics
Our Peace and Politics series empowers individuals and groups to respond peacefully and proactively to ideological and political differences that contribute to hostile rhetoric, intimidation, and threats. From kitchen table disagreements to organized intimidation at the polls or board meetings, differences in ideological and political perspectives can fracture families and communities. This series will equip peacebuilders with knowledge and practical skills to diffuse even the most contentious circumstances.
Peace on Campus
Campus climates at US colleges and universities can be tense, with heightened emotions and safety concerns affecting the learning environment. When individuals on all sides feel unsafe, it can lead to disruptions and conflicts. Peacebuilders on campus play a crucial role in maintaining safety and dignity for everyone by fostering respectful dialogue and de-escalating aggression in classrooms, common areas, and beyond. “I will take away a greater sense of responsibility for my own ability to contribute to the peace of my shared community. I enjoyed feeling vital to this peacebuilder process. My role is clearer than ever before. I can do this. I now have more tools that may help bring about Tikkun Olam, the repair of the world. I want to be a conduit for that. This training is full of pertinent information to do precisely that building of Peace.” - Workshop Participant
Peace at Home
Have you felt the tension of differing ideological, religious, or partisan points of view within your family, neighborhood, or circle of friends? This two-part workshop series offers techniques to navigate these challenging situations with the grace and calm of a peacebuilder. Discover the reasons behind behaviors, learn methods of fostering understanding and compassion, and uncover the secret to peace: curiosity.
Peace at Work
Despite the ubiquity of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training, there is little evidence in support of their effectiveness, especially with diverse groups over time. These trainings generally provide information on bias, stereotypes, and cultural competency. Some are able to increase participant knowledge, but DEI training alone does not change attitudes or behavior. More concerning are findings that antibias training can actually increase bias over time. It’s time for a new approach to dignity and belonging in the workplace, one grounded in shared values and opportunities to connect. Ready to join the conversation?
Peace Anywhere Project
This initiative engages students in a secure facility in a values-based intervention designed to promote peace through fostering a sense of empowerment and belonging, prosocial identity, and the use of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills. Through this workshop series, students gain essential tools to navigate conflicts and improve relationship both within the facility and after their release into the broader community. The initial 4-session pilot is currently being implemented and evaluated.
